TOPIC: Slave site in Different root dir
#2047
Slave site in Different root dir 14 Years, 7 Months ago
Dear All,

I have my master installed in /var/www/mastersite/web
and I want to have my slave installed in /var/www/slavesite

ftp layer root stetings in joomla: /www/mastersite

I followed the steps in the tutorials and was able to create a site under /var/www/mastersite/web
like /var/www/mastersite/web/test2

but when I changed my FTP root settings to /www then the ftp layer does not create the needed files.

Any suggestions how to do this?

Thanks
ROB

First when you are using the FTP layer, this is just to copy files and not to create the symbolic links because this is not supported by the FTP protocol.
So use the Joomla FTP Layer will not help you to deploy a slave site into another directory where you might not have the permission (at I suppose this is the problem).

If you want to install a slave site into another "root" directory, you have to check that you have the correct permission.

I suspect that you are trying to deploy a slave site into another account of a hosting provider that may be secured

The actual root of the ftp login account is /var/www/
so I should have access to both new roots.

When the FTP layer is not used, the owners are set to www-data instead of mex which is the owner of all other joomla files.

Any suggestions?

Perhaps you have to set all the files and folders with the same permission.

I suspect that www-data correspond to apaches and the mex is the user you have used to isntall joomla.
If they are in different group, this could be the reason of the problem.

You can also check if you have the open_basedir enabled.
