Virtuemart - Share all but vendor? 13 Years, 1 Month ago

Hi Edwin and all,
Trying to set up 2 slave sites from the back end that share VM. Ideally though would like each to keep its vendor identity.
I have combed through the forums and the documentation here and come up with nothing about the use of "Share all but vendor" in the VM sharing. I was hoping this was my fix but it doesn't seem to be.
What is its practical use at this point?
Thanks!

You have to use the VM Share all except vendor option.
If you had already created the slave site with a share all VM, this will not modify the existing defintion.
So verify how the VM tables are shared in the slave site and verify that the vendor table is not shared. I suspect that the vendor table is shared by a previous action that you did.
You can verify the tables with the JMS tools menu.

Thanks for the reply edwin.
Let me rephrase the question, though. If "all except vendor" is selected will the Virtuemart store details of each slave site be pulled from the slave sites VM installation or the main installation? I guess I am confused.
And since VM1 still doesn't really support multivendor (The reason I came upon multisites in the first place) don't we still have to go into the DB and change the vendor_id to avoid conflicts?
I am just trying to automate the process as much as possible in the beginning for my client and ultimately myself as I will be the one having to adapt it.

I don't understand what you mean by
"Virtuemart store details of each slave site be pulled from the slave sites VM installation or the main installation"
When you don't share the "vendor" this mean that when you go in the back-end of VirtueMart and you click on the menu "edit store" then the information that describe the store are specific to the website that you are editing.
So when a customer connect on this website, it get this "store" or "vendor" information.
There is no pull or push between website.
When you don't share something, that mean it is specific to the website.
When you create the website, at this moment the information is copied.
