The master index is located into the /multisites directory.
This is the /multisites/config_multisites.php

This file is generated automatically by JMS when you save a slave sites definition with success.
So if you received a blue (or green) message depending on the joomla version then the master index is updated (except if the slave site is marked as ignore master index generation).
