TOPIC: Use Template with new DB
#489
Re:Use Template with new DB 15 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hi bwkeyboardman / chrisex

I have the same issue in that I would prefer to set up the cloned template site with a new DB

I wondered if you found a solution or workaround to this? and if so what was the easiest route!

I posted a feature request

Sorry, the current version does not allow the replication into another DB.
This is planned but probably not before june of july 2009

Edwin and everyone.

Thanks for your feedback. It would be great to have this option. I am working with it as is for now. Don't mind there being extra tables in each database. If anyone of them get large enough, we can always create another template with its new database.

Any experiences or recommendations on what is the max size of a database you should limit them to?

Thanks!
BW

The max size depend on the operating system.
MySQL use 3 files per tables.
The maximum tables depends on the maximum files accepted by the operating system.
Also the size depends on the maximum size of a the files accepted by the operating system.

Kernel Joomla use 39 tables.
You have to add the tables created by the extensions.
Therefore, you can estimate the number of websites that can be created in a single DB.
You have to take in account the Operating System limits and also the disk space available.
