Hello. This might be a really dumb and maybe a really simple question.

I have a client that has a master Joomla Install located at www.filechives.com

This client wants to manage (duplicate) sites for his clients, based on a "template" site located at www.filechives.com/multisites/master1

I've read the manuals and watched tutorials but still don't understand how I can set the site under the master1 directory as the site I want to duplicate, but still manage from the main site at the root. Does that make sense?

Can someone please tell me how I can setup the site under the master1 directory as the master, but manage it and all slave sites from the root install located at www.filechives.com?

Thank you!!

If you want to duplicate the slave site "master1" you can get inspired from the video present in the tutorial 13
tutorial.jms2win.info/jms11x/frontend_slavesites/index.html

Create a JMS Template
Template ID = replic_master1
Select the template site : master1

The other parameters are the default value that you can setup also to avoid re-enter them each time.
In general, you can fill also the provide template values for
- domain
- New table prefix
- Deploy directory

When you are in JMS manage site:
- Site ID: slave1
- Domain : www.slave1.com
- Select the template "replic_master1"
- Put a new table prefix (if not present in the JMS template)
- Perhaps also the deploy directory

I hope this will help you
