TOPIC: creating a slave which uses the master DB
#2446
creating a slave which uses the master DB 14 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I'd like to have a full copy of my master site, but just slightly different looks. I've been trying all day to set up a template that copies the master tables, but no luck, each slave site is empty.

I'd like to create a slave site that includes the data from the master site.

The concept consist in the definition of the replication rule in JMS template and after that use this rule when you create the slave site.

Here it is a sample that will create a slave1 website that is a copy of your master website

Create a JMS template
Template ID = replic_master
Select the template site = master_db

You can also pre-configured the other parameters like the domain, new table prefix, deploy directory.

Once the template is create, you just have to use it when you create a slave site
Site ID = slave1
Domain = {site_url}/multisites/{site_id}
Template = replic_master
New DB prefix = {site_id}_
Deploy directory = {site_dir}

I have already replied to the same question in the forum.
So you should find other reply concerning the way to clone the master website.
