I Get the follwoing error on my menu item when trying to share a category blog layout.

Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /var/www/clients/client361/web547/web/libraries/joomla/database/database.php on line 25

Which Joomla version do you use.
You report a "notice" message concerning the joomla core and the version number of joomla is required.

Also give the JMS version that you are using.
If you are not using the latest version, I suggest that get the latest version.

I am using joomla 1.7 and have the latest version of Mulitsites V1.2.67

Sorry but there is no line 25 in joomla 1.7.1 or 1.7.2
that correspond to the error message that you provided

Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /var/www/clients/client361/web547/web/libraries/joomla/database/database.php on line 25

In addition, this is a "notice" message and not an error or warning message - just a notice.
