possible enhancement request? How difficult would it be to add some functionality that would expire the site based on $owner_id group membership? eg: $owner_id >= Author then the site is live $owner_id = Registered then the site is expired and redirected With 1.7 you could do the same thing with Access Levels

This is not so easy as the decision is taken before that Joomla start. In fact the decision is take before the first statement of Joomla is executed. This is the JMS "super switch" that take the decision when it has identified the slave site ID and before initializing Joomla itself. I will add your request in my to do list and perhaps it will be included in a future JMS 1.3.
