It will not renew sites from the front-end. It says I need pay reference! But these are free.

If your website is free (not billable website) and also that you don't have any expiration date (unlimited), there is no "renew".

If you have an expiration period, this is normal that JMS propose you to buy when it is expired. The idea is to give the possible to have a free period to test the website before to buy.
