some setup advice 13 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
I have a question about what are the optimal recommended settings for you product
I will be using jsm multisite for joomla1.6 with shared users and linked tables the sites mentioned below
Here is the situation
I am starting a new vps with the fallowing
3 domains on the vps
60 gig space
4096 ram
2048 mhz processor
Using cpanal
Unlimited bandwidth
What do you recommend for php version? is there any modules that I should pa attention to outside of the standerd joomla recomendations
What do you recommend for MySql version?
Should I consider anything in Apache version?
Are there any particular modules and or setting that should be addressed?
I am asking this as it is my first vps and I am moving from shared hosting an want to make sure it is set up right for your components as they are a core part of my three sites.
Any help and advice would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

1) For Joomla 1.6, it is recommended to use PHP 5.3.x
2) If you want to share some extension, it is recommended to use a MySQL version 5.x or imysql
Jms Multi Sites is not yet compatible with other DB engine like oracle, mssql, ...

3) Check the you have the correct permission for the files and folder (generally managed by suPHP)
Avoid to use suhosin in apache that may add restriction for the sharing of sessions and other security check when sharing the websites with subdomain
An apache 2.x is good
Install the curl module that is frequently used.
Jms Multi Sites is flexible. The only think that it can not do is bypass the security that you may add in your server (ie. suPHP not installed or suhosin installed).

No, there is no known issue.
JMS Multisites is compatible with PHP 4.3.3 or higher including now 5.3.x

Se chapter 7 of the user manual.

Hi Shubert,

Sorry for bumping an old thread but didn't see a way to email you.

I see that you were setting up with Mighty Extensions. I am in the process of rolling out a network using JMS and Mighty and was wondering if you had any feedback on the two working together?

I see that Edwin has a set of patches for Mighty but since Mighty hasn't offered him unIonCubed code its not complete.

Did you buy the JMS Patch or forge your way on your own.. how did it work out? Pointers? Issues?

Thanks!

Edwin if you need to move this I understand!
