TOPIC: HELP ME WITH SHARING SESSION

HELP ME WITH SHARING SESSION 12 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Dear Sir,

I am not able to share my users. I watched video many times and read your manual thrice.
What I want:
• To share session of my users and jomsocial on all my websites(of master website).
• Patches are also not getting updated properly(see snapshot, it says it has installed but sh404sef always left) and It never updates to its latest version(tried many times).

My master website is globaljournals.org RT-Panacea

My slave website is globaljournals.us RT-Equinox

Please tell me where I am wrong:
At First, I created database on my cpanel and given all permissions and as well cross database permissions for master and slave database. (It was giving permission problems earlier but now it is not giving such errors, I corrected permission problems)
From the “new template” I created a template with following settings:
Id: us
List of domain names: globaljournals.us
www.globaljournals.us
Template site: Master Site
Share the whole site: “UnChecked”

Master site folder: /home/shivji/public_html/

Deployment folder: /home/shivji/public_html/us

Create deployed folder: Unchecked

Template folder: /home/shivji/public_html/us/templates

Folder and files: In the both cases I am customizing default settings as follow-
.htaccess: Modify RewriteBase according to new domain
And ignoring cgi-bin folder as it creates problem that “cannot make symbolic link of this”

In the sharing tab: IN THE BOTH CASES, I CHECK ON ALL SHARE CHECKBOXES, but in CASE 2, WHEN I AGAIN OPEN TOOLS AND “us” LINK, I FIND THEM UNCHECKED

THEN I GOTO “MANAGE SITES” AND CLICK ON NEW

Id: us

List of domain names: globaljournals.us
www.globaljournals.us
Template: us

Share the whole site: “UnChecked”

NEW DB SERVER NAME: localhost
New DB name: its name
New DB user: its user
New password: its password
New DB table prefix: us_

THEN I CLICK ON SAVE.

I CAN SEE INFINITE ICON(SHARED) IN TOOLS MENU IN _SESSION TABLE
BUT SESSION IS NOT SHARED PLEASE HELP ME

PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE

Would you please described your environment.
Which version of Joomla are you using ?
The setup is different depending on Joomla version.

Concerning the sharing of users, follow the tutorial video 16
www.jms2win.com/en/tutorial#jms12x-16
On Joomla 1.6, you also have to setup the "Global Configuration" to add the "cookie domain" parameters to allow sharing the session between the websites.

Concernign the sh404sef, I don't find the snapshot that mentioned in your post.
Which version of sh404sef are you using ?

If you see the infinite symbol in the table definition, this mean that the DB and slave site is probably well created.

If the apache session is not shared, either this is because you are using joomla 1.6 and you forgotten to setup the new Joomla 1.6 parameter present in the Global Configuration and that is called "cookie domain".
Or in case of Joomla 1.5, there is a patch missing.

If the master website and slave site are not using the same domain name then the apache will not share the session. So this woule be normal that you don't have the same session. This limitation is related to the HTTP Server (apache or IIS) that forbid to share the session accross domain. The "cookie domain" is only allowed on same domain and you can not share the same "session ID" between different domains.
This limitation is written in our product detail in the section "sharing users and single sign-in".
