TOPIC: Language filter causes loop
#7560
Language filter causes loop 12 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
I am using multisites to build different websites.
I use joomla 1.6 and use the language functionality of joomla 1.6
As long I turn off the plugin "language filter" everything works fine, but I do not have the multilanguage functionality. I tested every possible mode of creating the slave site. It gives gives always the same result.
If I turn the plugin "language filter" on, I get the message as in the file attached.
It seems that there is a problem/bug(?) in the redirection from index.php
I do not use at this stage any other extensions then multisites.

Can you help me?
Regards Koen

Sorry but I am not able to reproduce the problem that you described.

If you have enable SEF, perhaps you have to verify if you have the .htaccess present.
If you have a wrong rule in the ".htaccess" this can produce the behavior that you described.

Did you enabled the SEF ?
If YES, did you tried without the SEF and do you have the same problem.

I did try without SEF-plugin enabled, but this doesn't make any difference. I get the same result.
I have a file htaccess.txt in the root of the masterwebsite, but I did not insert any rules there myself?

I am not familiar to that so how can I control the rules there?

if you have a "htaccess.txt" then it is not used.
The files that could be used is ".htaccess" that does not seem the case and you also mentioned that you don't have the SEF enabled.

Sorry but I don't see the reason and I am not able to reproduce it.
If you want that I have a look on your server, this is possible with our billable support that you can order at

Here it is the reason of the infinite loop resulting of the billable support investigations.

When you enable the language filter and that you are using wesbites with different domain or subdomain then it is required that you have specific deployed directory and "document root".
The document root directory (ie. Addon or subdomain in cPanel) and the JMS deployment folder must be identical.
When the values between document root and the JMS deploy folder are different, this result in this infinite loop when the language filter is enabled.
