TOPIC: Cannot access Manage Sites tab in JMS
#9435
Cannot access Manage Sites tab in JMS 12 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi Edwin,

I mistakenly changed a template that was being used for a slave site. Now when I try click to access the Manage Sites tab I get the following error:

Joomla!
500 - An error has occurred.

JDatabase::getInstance: Could not connect to database
joomla.library:2 - Could not connect to MySQL host=[127.0.0.1] with user=[myusername]

Return to Control Panel

Please can you let me know how I can restore access?

Thanks and regards.

The error message report you that it was not able to connect on a DB.
So check your MySQL user privileges and passwords.

So verify your JMS template rule or the parameters present in your slave site definition concerning the DB connection.

The problem is that I don't know which slave sites are affected by the broken template. I have many slave sites and I don't want to go through each configuration file.

These slave sites are all testing sites so can you please let me know how I can just manualy delete them all using FTP?

Thanks and regards.

You can NOT delete the slave site directories like that because if you have use the slave site into a JMS Template rule, this definition is still present and might be called to try connect on something that you will have deleted.

If you want to know mode info on the DB that cause the error, the only solution is to add trace into joomla to display more info.
Perhaps you could try using the joomla debug functionality. Perhaps that it will reveal more info that will help you identifying the JMS template that is incorrectly defined or the slave site that is incorrectly defined.

OK thanks for clearing that up. Good to know that sites must ALWAYS be deleted from within JMS.
