Srv error creating a simple demo slave 12 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello edwin2win

I have just registered to jms multisite

Now
Although, as soon as possible, I'll jump from the horrible aruba.it to hostgator.com hosting, I want to understand better what is going on about the following slave creation problem.

I created a first simple demo slave.
The creation procedure succeeded but
when I open the url to complete the joomla settings for the slave
the browser displays this message:

here's all the detailed info
_______________________________________________________________________

browser MESSAGE

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, postmaster@mydomain.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

_______________________________________________________________________

related LOG

- suexec policy violation: see suexec log for more details, referer: www.mydomain.com/main/administrator/inde...ption=com_multisites

- Premature end of script headers: index.php, referer: www.mydomain.com/main/administrator/inde...ption=com_multisites

________________________________________________________________________

- Both the symbolic links visual checks and "hello" test SUCCEEDED

- The directories permissions are set to 755

- No use of .htaccess

- I can see all the slave symbolic links, files, and sub-folders, in its directory

- simple creation procedure info:
site id = slave12
Confirmed
Owner = unselected
domain name = www.mydomain.com/myslaves/slave12
Master dir = /web/htdocs/www.mydomain.com/home/main
Deployed dir = /web/htdocs/www.mydomain.com/home/myslaves/slave12
Create deploy dir = yes

______________________________

Now I can't soon work with DNS because of aruba.it subdomains policy
and because one of my wishes is to start and use just the simple domain/subdirectory basic url without mapping it to a domain name.
(though i will use also some subdomains later, and all of the others jms features)

thanks for your attention.

PS
I forgot the following message after the first step in creation of slave12:

The site 'slave12' is deployed.
- You can now map your new domain (www.mydomain.com/myslaves/slave12) to the directory '/web/htdocs/www.mydomain.com/home/myslaves/slave12'.
- When the DNS will be updated with your new domain (perhaps you have to wait 24 hours), you will can go to your new domain and Joomla will request you a new installation (as usual).
- Please use a new db prefix for each site and NEVER use 'jos' as prefix or if you want to keep 'jos' as prefix, create as many databases than you have sites.

Update on this problem

As I noticed that slave12 files were set to 644
I changed all slave12 files to 755 and
this solved the problem.
Now the joomla slave12 setup start!

That's fine!

So the problem now shifted to the #644 file permissions
Did I forget some setting in the fresh joomla + jms installation?

Thanks

Based on the chmod that you did, I suppose that the flag "execute" is required to allow following the symbolic link and that would explain the reason of the "Internal Server Error".

Thank you for this feedback that might help other customers.

Hi edwin2win

Well.

I don't consider this problem solved at all.

At the moment I am documenting on Joomla and permissions.

Only I notice that my hosting administrator ftp login id
is not the same of the admin login id on joomla through the web browser.

note also that aruba does not have a cpanel-like tool.
I just use filezilla & tcmd

Thanks for your attention

The problem of ownership is effectivelly the most frequent problem when the server is not configured correctly.
So you have to report such issue to the administrator of your server (probably your hosting provider).
