multiple sites, selective sharing. 10 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi

I have a site with several sub domains, I want all users of subdomains to be able to have access to the primary site and then some sub domains users will have access to the data logged by users of another subdomain. There is a separate sub domain with jomsocial and all should have access to that.

Is it possible to configure jms correctly for this

With the partial user sharing that you can add to JMS, it is possible to allow some users login on some websites.

So I suppose that you mentioned "access to the data logged by another users", you mean that a user must be logged to access the data.

See the "Partial User Sharing" that I think will help you doing that.

Hi Edwin,

I have three subdomains already created in Joomla. I want to make one subdomain master and the other two slaves. How do I configure and already made domain or site into a slave of another sub domain.

The procedure to convert a standalone website into a slave site is the following:
- Check that the master website contain all the extensions required by the future slave sites with exactly the same version number.
=> If some extension are missing, install them.
=> If some extension does not have the same version, update the websites to have the same version number.

- When the master contain all the extension required by all the websites:
=> Rename the current standalone joomla website directory to save it.
=> Create a fresh slave site in JMS with exactly the same name as the current slave site and deploy it into the original standalone directory (to rebuild a original standalone one-.
=> Copy the standalone "configuration.php" into the new slave site directory.
=> Potentially copy or move the images or other specific content that would present in the "renamed" standalone directory like /images, media or other specific content.

The key element is that you have all the extension present in the master with exactly the same version number.
Extension mean (component, module, plugin, languages, templates, ...)
