Changing Default installation database. 15 Years ago Karma: 0
Hi there,

Thanks for this great Joomla MultiSites! It work perfect for my project needs.

I was wondering if it was possible to change the default installation template and Database samples for when you add a new slave site. I would like the installer to install the same Original Template as my Main site as well as the sample content I setup.

Is this all done by changing the content of the installation directory for the Master Site? or is the any installation files I need to edit as well?

Example:

Master Website first install has sample content. Master Website gets updates as it goes, but when you install a new Slave site, I want it to use the same Template as Master Site and use the original Sample data from the Master Site instead of the Joomla Original Sample data and it's Template. I know the Template can be changed afterwords, but wanted to use my own Sample Data to be installed when I create a new Slave site or so.

Please let me know were I replace or work on to make this happen.

Hi again,

I think I figured it out. I just copied/overright my sample_data.sql to the installation sql sample data file and so far looks good.

If there is anything else I should look in to, please let me know.

With JMS, you can replicate any website that is defined in JMS.
Therefore you can prepare a website containing your specifc "sample data" and create new website based on this one.

Use the JMS "Website Template" to define your replication rules.
As the whole website will be replicated, you can also select which default template must be used and also pre-install extensions.

See tutorial step 13 that show the usage of the website template in the case of creation of website from the front-end.
This can also be used for the back-end.

Hi there,

Thank you very much! I just purchased it today and asked the question before reading (Guess my Reading skills is too low haha

My final goal is to have the same login for every site and for each site to have their own Template with their logo's then be able to share parts of contents through all of them between each other.

I will read and see what I can do first and any questions will open a new topic.

Thanks again!

The current JMS does not allow sharing the content.
See FAQ
- /faq#sec-73
- /faq#sec-12
- /faq#sec-72

I am currently working on a JMS 1.2.x that will allow the user sharing.
As already mentionned in the forum, I plan this version for june or july.

Concerning the article sharing, see

Hi there,

Thanks again and yes I forgot to say I did purchase both following products at the same time. Article sharing is what I needed and didn't think of content at this stage yet. But yes it sounds great that you have plans to supporting this in the near futures.

*Joomla Multi Sites Version 1.1.x
*Articles sharing Version 1.0 for Joomla Multi Sites

I have been reading and trying out ways to setup for my needs, but still little confused. I will open a new topic once I get my questions straighten out.

Thanks a again!
